Being a non-profit does not mean everything is free. Even some of our profession's organizations are non-profits and they want subscription to even login to their site. We are being very generous and providing everything for free and we will continue to do so to provide free access to immigrants on our site. Only a small donor area is for donors so that such members can have easy access to information and admins.

I would say we all need to know our status well first :) There is no such status as EAD. It is Adjustment of Status (AOS) Pending. I had done multiple refi and all I had to tell them is GC pending. They get copy of EAD just to have a reference that I am legal here at the time of application (since it has an end date). Had no issues so for.
vrbest, Who is your lender. Can you name the bank you worked with. It might help the some in this group. I have done a Mortgage and 2 re-fi in the past with no issues, but last time, I had issues with Bank of America, Wells Fargo and one other bank (don't remember name). The reason was being on AOS/EAD, They were fine with H1b, but did not understand what EAD / AOS is. It all depends on the underwriter and if he is not knowledgeable on the Visa issues, then you are done. You can't ask for an alternate underwriter. I was able to secure through a credit union though.

Yes. Is there any Legislation/or anything that can be worked on to make it a Law for getting Citizenship application eligibility after 5 years (or 6 years considering time to process fingerprint/medical/etc..) of I-485 application Provided, it is been Pending for years becoz of Visa-Unavailability from state.
Does any one among the Core IV committee aware or any such point?
If anything best the Core IV can do for all us, then it should be this one. Not sure what is their opinion about it. At least we should try for it since it is covering majority of us to get benefited.

I got a RFE for I-693 (Medical Exam) on Jan 27 and we responded in Feb. Our case is being processed in NSC. My husband is the primary applicant. It does seem like something is cooking there...

1. 1st employer cheated me on GC-Labor in 2003 - sold/substituted my labor to some lucky fellow.
2. 2nd employer filed GC-Labor in Mar 05 (really) but silently did it in in EB3 it took 2 yrs for Labor and almost 2 yrs for I-140 in Jan 2009 and by that time recession has hit us.
3. 3rd employer trying a EB2 upgrade by a new PERM Labor in Dec 2010 - the employer seems better than 1 and 2 but don't know until i get it at hand :)
Why don't you create a poll for this?. That will be easier.

No wonder there is such a backlog of EB3 I-140s !

The news about these amendments really lightened up our suffering retrogressed souls.
But its really unfortunate to know that President Bush is gonna veto the bill altogether.

I have been a donor since 2006 and donated about $1000+ through 3 or 5 one time payments and monthly subscription of $20.
But I discontinued my monthly subscription seeing absence of IV core for long time in 2008. But more than that I was completely pissed off with free riders with one time questions and then disappearing, nanny questions, people sharing jokes on this forum, people commenting on the internal matters of their own country and so on. I felt the forum was being used for all other matters except the one issue it was formed to address: "RETROGRESSION in EB IMMIGRATION".
I am fully supportive of paid membership and welcome this step. I thank IV admin for the same.
Now my questions are
What is the vision / mission/ purpose behind the "donor forum"?
whether members will still be able to post questions for free and get answers? And of course vanish after that.

To kick up some dust and buzz, amongst our American collegues, TV news reporters, talking heads, professors etc., I suggested that we must write about this injustice. Taking SS Tax and Medicare tax from non -immigrants is injustice. Americans will not tolerate injustice. What we are discussing here, whether we should do something about this collectively at IV, so that our GC processes will be speeded up, as a indirect consequence. You must understand employment visas, like H1B are non-immigrant visas. That alone should make Uncle Sam stop collecting SS Tax and Medicare. If any trial lawyer does a class action law suit or what we call a Public Interest Litigation, the US government should be in lot trouble. Because no one is questioning, they are passing on. I was also told by a SWA high official, that there is a provision, that you can opt out of deduction of SS Tax and Medicare, if you are on H1.
I want to focus on core IV goals. I will not post any further on this SS Tax issue. But, my last word is: dual intent is dangerous and applicants will be denied visa and entry into US. So, readers be careful. You have a non-immigrant visa.

In order to qualify for most categories of U.S. non-immigrant visas, you must be able to demonstrate to a U.S. Consular Officer that you have a permanent residence outside the United States that you do not intend to abandon. By the way, let me clarify that I have nothing against 2006 PD who got approved last month...but my frustration is against USCIS system who does not follow FIFO. Sorry if I have hurt someone's feelings.
This is really frustrating...moving EB2-I cut-off dates to Aug 2006, approving large number of 2006 PD cases and leaving 2003 - 2005 cases aside.

if recapture enacted we shortened it for a few months.

why USCIS/ DOL needs a law to re-capture visa # which were not used in previous years ?
I mean Congress already authorized these ? Canot DOL/ UCIS make a judgement based on their own ?

I remember that in the early nineties it was next to impossible to get a home loan in India. I think the only company which gave out home loans was HDFC and the interest rate was a whopping 16%. Property prices at that time conformed to what people could actually afford as the house had to be either paid in full or you had to take out a loan from your provident fund.
Fast forward to 2000 and beyond. After the Indian rupee became fully convertible and the banking regulations were relaxed every bank or finance company started to make loans. The upshot of that is that everyone could buy a house and car through taking out loans. This of course created this huge demand for new housing from the middle class which translated into a steep increase in land and property prices.
This may not exactly be a total bubble as loans are there to stay. What is happening though is that home construction is going on at a rapid pace and at some point Indian cities and their suburbs may be overbuilt. At that point you would be stuck with your house and not be able to sell as is happening in the US. Of course some markets will correct but I donot think Bombay, Bangalore or Hyderabad will.
I'm a a total layman regarding such issues and I am just trying to reason this through.
