Too bad you did not bother reading up on the net before you took your job. I researched what is involved prior to leaving grad school and I knew it was a long wait. Like I said quota is there because of numbers / diversity. US needs programmers from more than just one country.
And its not really a quota since numbers are rolled at the end of the year to oversubscribed countries. Your notion of separate queues derives from your ignorance of how immigration works. Why hasn't anyone challenged the quota in the Supreme Court ?

We need your time, your enthusiasm on the advocacy days. IV is a grass roots organization. You are the grass roots.
We face problems of backlogs, and career uncertainty. IV is offering a solution, if implemented, it will bring relief to all. IV needs your help to deliver what you and I "NEED" AND "WANT".
HELP IV HELP YOU.
We need heavy participation on the lobby days, I need volunteers from different states to ask me "How can I help?" instead, I am trying to find volunteers! This event has been registered at SJPD but no permit was issued.
Having a permit means you can block the traffic.
Without a permit, we are required to stay on sidewalks.
The police put down my name, driver license # and address.
However, when I asked if I have any liability for others fault, the ploice said NO. Everybody abides by law for himself.

I got an email today from USCIS stating this
Current Status: Card production ordered.
I did not receive any other approval notice. I hope this means that our 485 is approved and the cards have been ordered ?

Soilders returning from voilent conflicts have the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder( PTSD ) also called as Shell Shock . I coin this term "Pre Green card Stress disorder". or Pre Green Card SHock.
Dr Sanjay Gupta who seems be an immigrant himself has spent lots of hours researching "Shell shock " maybe we should send him this new term to research .
And last but not the least , Relax . Staying here is not the end of the world .We came here we tried very hard , if God forbid we fail . I personally do not mind one bit to go back to my motherland . Remember if US is teh present then India is the Past and India will be the future . Thats where all the action is now and will be in the future .
Sorry If my last paragraphs hurt the feelings of any die hard members . I was just expressing my way to reduce the tension and stress that is associated with the GC process .

You should be proud of what you are doing. Even if you dont do a great job, You should try your best and you should still believe that you are doing it to the best of your ability and no one can do it better. But the way you talk, you seem to be a big loser and one of those, who feel lucky to have got your H1B. Probably, USA wont lose anything when one some like you leave. But Dont talk for the folks here. If you think you are below average, thanks for accepting it. Anyway, we would have known that from your shameless post. Most of us here deserve it and are special and are destined for greater achievements.

My suggestion would be that probably doctors have discovered metastatic cancer and have give you the prognosis.
For your visa
It seems you have already cleared most hurdles
1) Talk to a immigration lawyer
2) Talk to USCIS and ask for "Humanitarian Expedite". Call or fax them the document ask you doctor to write the letter
3) get media attention: write to local congressman,senator and the local media TV stations to expedite your case
4)Dont delay any day. Once you create an expediate request they are bound to act on it.(by either rejecting it or accepting it). The point is make an official request without delay
In a similar situation i would try to straigten out few things
First is finance Security :
1)Try to transfer control and custody of all financial instruments to you wife name
2)is you wife working if not try to get job on H1b.(not EAD) Cap exempt HIB from university affialted jobs are alsways available or get her to a school on f-1
What does you wife want.She may not want to stay here if she does not have extended family.Talk to her.Ask here
Lastly Get an second opinion from Indian APollo etc they may do life prolonging surgical procedures (which doctors here might not be willing for many reasons ...this will get you enough time that your green card is appoved

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and our prayers are with you and your family.
But as suggested by IV members, please do consider a visit to india and take second opinion from the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, its one of the best cancer treament centre in the world.
US Healthcare system is for Profit, some medical facilities in US are exception, but if you see the overall Healthcare system it sucks and its all driven by insurance and big Pharmaceutical companies.
Please send me the private e-mail if you need any help in Mumbai to reach good doctor in Tata Memorial Hospital.
Thank you all for your help and support but I have made peace with my fate. I have pancreas cancer with VERY poor pragnosis and trust me I took 5 different opinions with the some of the best hospitals in US and Europe.
Regarding my family, something is working out in Sweden and probably all of us will move there permanently in 1-2 months. We have some relatives living there.
Thanks again for all you help. You guys really made us feel we are not alone.

i called uscis and they gave me the rns for ead and 485. but not for ap. they didn't provide any rns for my spouse as not present in the call. checked the money orders at bank...it was not cashed yet....anyone similar!:confused:
We had similar problem...my son checks were not cashed. Called USCIS and got RN.But the case is rejected...waiting for actual notice to resubmit.

I hate to say this since I'm charged to the India queue as well. However this will not get solved soon. I saw on CNBC this afternoon that there were something like 53K H1b visas for Indians last year, next was china with like 8 or 9K, then others(I had no idea it was that lop-sided). When H1b visas are going so disproportionately to one country, the only solution to solve the EB green card logjam is to either put country caps on H1b visa or lift it on EB green cards. This is not opinion, it is quite simply a fact. Absent that, we can consider the EB green card route closed for anyone from India.
There is little and declining sympathy for the pro H1b forces. I suspect we will see highly restrictive legislation pretty soon, and based on the current sentiment wouldn't bet against it passing either.

However this is the spouse's ead and I see the lud as 9/10 on 5 of our 485/ead/ap apps. However spouse AP (whose ead was ordered) still has 9/5. I don't understand y they approve one and take time for the other. I think their system has some issues...

My vote goes for DC on 7/14. Many people like me might have already used their time off recently to get a medical exam and paperwork for I-485. I live in Baltimore area and simply cannot make it to DC on a weekday. If I lose my job I won't get a green card - as simple as that.
If there are others in Baltimore area who would like to join the action please don't hesitate to contact me. We could car pool and get together to make signs. I'll also try to gather some friends, although it might be tough on a short notice - almost everyone is on vacation.
I dont need to tell you how DC looks like on a weekend. None but visitors. Your boss must be really cruel to let you go for ever if you need to take half day off. Just joking :) Go ahead and create a poll with all possible options and then you can figure out what is the best option
