No you cant do that. One should not leave country when 485 pending. Once you laid off from sponsor you can not do counsural processing also. Travelling in AP should be for a mimimum period. It will be big mistake, if you leave country without job offer. No one knows when they issue RFE for employment verification during your 485 pending period. If you do not have job when they issue RFE, thats it. Bottomline is, it is better to be employed during 485 pending and stay in the country to reply any RFE.

The correlation I am making is, if they do not percieve there is a problem with existing Math and Science education as it applies to the current employment environment, why will there be any interest about the proposals in PACE?

My wife's EAD has not yet been approved. It has been 92 days since the receive date. We had an infopass appointment today. I did not apply for EAD.
The officer we met with mentioned that the EAD is issued only after the biometrics are done. I highly doubt this is the norm. Our FP is scheduled for Nov 21st. he said that the service center will electronically send the photo/fp to nebraska. Only then can I expect to see any movement on the EAD application.
I have heard that your FP/biometrics does not have anything to with EAD. However, this officer gave us information that is totally contrary to what we have seen in recent times. He mentioned that this is the latest procedure. He suggested that we should schedule another infopass appointment only If we do not get the EAD 3-4 weeks after the biometrics.
Any inputs from people with similar experience?

Please call them back or get another infopass and this time, you might be lucky to talk to somone who knows what they are saying. My PD is June 04 and the online status for my LC shows CERTIFIED since last week. Attorneys say they need DOL to send them the approved LC ... some document, which would be needed to file I-140 and I-485. Any idea how much time it takes for DOL to send the above said document back to the applicant or representative?
In that case, have your paper work ready such as medical tests, birth certs & related.

understand IV is a non-profit org and they are not full time employees of IV and getting paid for what they are doing. Entire IV active members and sleeping members are one team with set of goals.
Probably from my experience with IV activities I beleive IV would have known this news a week before. When we are talking about this, they might be working out a plan with QGA. Leave them free and let them do their job. It is not an easy task for volunteers. Each member is in different location and they have to co-ordinate etc etc. I do not know why people are DEMANDING from IV as if they are shareholders.

Yes, A colleague case is similar to yours. Got his "Welcome" mail via USPS, Online status still show as pending, but only difference, his case is EB3, not EB2. I-485 filed during the July rush, both the primary applicant and the spouse got the welcome notice via USPS mail. LUD seems to be in August sometime. The online status is not really reliable. Still shows as case received and pending. PD is July '04. He is not sure, and his consulting his attorney, if any action required on his side. Not sure, this is a exception or more cases like this.

to tell you the truth, DO NOT make silly statements at all. like someone said in this forum, we ARE professionals and dignified individuals with a wide array of qualifications by virtue of which WE are doing jobs in this country. some of us are here working for more than 8 years, some others may be 3 years, some others may have just begun.

I am changing my employer and wanted to retain the services of legal firm representing current employer. Upon asking that I want to retain their services after I leave current employer, I have been told to pay upfront retainer fee of $2500.
- Is it normally the case? I have been told that this fee will be put in my account with the firm and used to pay the charges for the services I request.
- If with God's grace my case is approved without requiring attorney's help, is this retainer refundable in full (I have asked attorney this question and waiting for thier reply). Anybody has a similar experience.

Say Mr A with a PD of 2004 applied for 485 on July 23.
But Mr B with a PD of 2005 applied for 485 in 2005 or anytime before July 2007.
Mr B may be assigned a visa number and you will see his aproval anytime from July-Oct 2007. Since he already applied 485 , his name check, FP, etc is clear and case is pre-adjudicated.
Therefore, inspite of the fact that Mr B 's PF is not current, you will still see approvals in August, sept, oct.

Dude, are you serious? You will, only possibly, be laid off in April next year. Means you have got 4 months to find yourself a new job. You already are in I-485 stage, so you don't need any immediate visa to maintain status. And you are telling me you are distressed?
Grow up. I know many guys who are already sitting without job and valid status for 6 months, and even more. I mean, I can't believe you are serious.

I beg to disagree - I think if you read between the lines it is quite clear that potential solutions are being discussed. A solution may be announced but NOT within the 24 hrs that we all are expecting. It may lead to a deadlock in which case the lawsuit would be one of our recourse.
I think we all got a little carried away by the 24HR time frame from Core.
