Someone asked earlier, who changed their mind after reading Jaime. I did after one of his earlier posts.
I was decided on not going, but then as I spent more time on this forum, I realized it is definitely the right thing to do. If not us speaking up then who? Simply answer that. How do lawmakers even know that we exist, that an injustice is happening to us, that we feel frustrated about our situation. They keep getting lopsided anti immigrant venom from some well organized and well funded groups and keep hearing about illegal immigration. Our pain however has resonance with them. We played by the rules, we came and lived legally at the invitation of our AMERICAN employers and the US gov't certified that there is no one to take the jobs we are doing, we paid taxes, we have integrated into society and we are asking, why are we being made to wait this long?
What's to feel bad or shy about in that?
I'll tell you something, those who are skeptical simply do not understand how this country works. It is a representative democracy and people pressure and protests and lobbying DO WORK. Otherwise lobbying would not be the biggest growth industry of the day. There is no other way to inspire change, and it has been, can and will be done. I have seen it time and over again.
The final point I wish to make is, those coming to this rally have pre-selected traits. They are the pre-selected ones who are programmed to be successful in this country. They understand it and are proactive and entrepreneural and willing to spend, take risks, take a leadership, are responsible and will do the right thing. These traits have been and will continue to be rewarded in the long run in this country. I wish we can project that our community has many of these people.
Those meek, follow the leader, risk averse, miserly, behind the back types, may have their little breadcrumbs but will never have the attributes to achieve anything of note in the USA anyway. They will continue to find lame excuses for their lack of progress.
Every reader needs to decide for themself which type he/she is. This is after all the greatest country in the world that you are asking for acceptance into.

I find it weird that they cannot find the info by country of chargeability. That should have been entered when they receipted the AOS applications, right?

Yes, I did. He is our company's attorney. He is very good and experienced attorney but he is too slow.
If you are looking for experienced attorney, go with him but if you are looking for faster service then look for someone else.
Does this attorney approachable ? Does he answer your phone calls ?
Does he promptly reply to your emails ? Does he clarify your doubts ?
Do you deal with him directly or does your company rep speak for you ?
How is his fees ? Is he expensive or affordable ?

I have mailed 17 more individual signed letters to WH address this afternoon and copy of these 17 signed letters in one envelope to IV address. Good to see new date. I will continue to get as many as I can before this new date.
Collected 11 signatures during NJ trip and I guess these will go into NJ account..and 6 signatures from FL [11(NJ)+07(FL)=17]
Arvind

also in the 485 form, please take a look on the right hand side where it says uscis use only....thats where they have "country chargeable," and I guess they are right that they make the determination during adjudication.

Well depends on the job I want to get done. New Internatinal graduates come with less salary, more enthusiam, are hardworking and would go out of their way to get some work done.
In addition to that if I have a constant supply of H1Bs why would I want to spend more money on high salary & more perks if I can train newbies in 6 months.
Good luck running your company! Just imagine this, you spend 6 months training an international grad, spend $5000 - $7000 per H1B and after 1 - 2 yrs, you will have to start all over again. After a couple of months, the "new hire" will just be angry at you (just look at all the people on this forum who curse bodyshoppers - and just to clarify - I am not implying that the company you start will be a bodyshopping firm) and he will quit your company and join someone else. And you will have to start the process all over again. The guy who you hired on H1B will be now join someone else and depending on your business, you will be left high and dry.
I know this because the very first job I joined, the philosophy at the company was to hire fresh grads (the "get them cheap" works for American Grads too). My boss used to tell me "we can get two for the price of one". The year I got hired, the company recruited 15 new grads (a new "Product Development" dept. was being started) - and I was the only H1B. After 14 months, when the business started picking up, the company did not even bother to raise our pay or even recogonize us. Guess what happened? Over a period of 2 months, 12 of us quit for better jobs. Guess who now had to look for 12 people and at the sametime deliver the product to the clients on time?
And the company was not even a "desi" company. During my time there, we used to discuss the book "Good to Great" and how we could make the company a Great Company. The management used to talk about getting the "right people on the bus". I guess finally the "right people" found out that the bus was not going their way and got off it.

Let us not also forget that current estimates are that there are 1.1 million applications pending at all stages of the green card process. Notwithstanding the new additions each year.
Not looking quite so quick still, I remain unconvinced that things will speed up.
Is this an estimate for EB or for all green card applications? Because I absolutely do not believe this is the number. There is just no about H1Bs issued to produce this number.

EB3 (India) moved 2 months. Good news. But then?
What you expect for Eb3 guys? What may be the trend in coming months?
2002....2003....2004.....?
I dont think many labors were filed between september 2001 and Dec 2002. Due to bad market and frequent layoffs during that time. My guess is EB3 will get to 2003 soon, may be before end of this year.

I think I know how this works. They would outsource this program to some govt contractor (or ask the govt contractor who is working on their data ) to produce that report which costs (<10$ worth of time/effort, if they have all the data).
If all they want is money ..so be it. I am ready to pony up $50 for this,if we all approach together. But as someone suggested country of chargability is a must.

"Democratic strategist from the centrist wing of the party, said in an interview before the news conference that prospects for the kind of broad immigration reform the president wants -- tough enforcement coupled with some kind of pathway to citizenship for long-time illegal immigrants -- may have improved with more Democrats elected to Congress."

. People deserve to be treated with respect and that is something he needs to realize.
This is the spirit IV leadership should have. After all we are building an organization with human beings not mechanical parts. We should be more compassionate towards junior members and bench warmers.

As per member priderock's post the LAY ON THE TABLE description from THOMAS means that the Cantwell AMDT has been killed .
But then why is AILA saying this on their post : http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?docid=22481
One amendment that has been “filed,” but is not currently “pending” is the Cantwell amendment which is very important to business immigration interests. We do not know at this time what will happen with this amendment – whether it will come to the floor for debate or be negotiated through unanimous consent into the final package.
From AILA's description it would seem that the Amendment is does not have the status "lie on the table" as that would mean that the amendment has been killed with no possibility of coming up but AILA's description as to possible future of the amendment is to the contrary.

mirage,
Sometimes i believe in conspiracy theory but not this time. They just approved it fast because of improved processing in Texas - i'm also scared if they approve mine fast and i wont get 2 year as well.
Why - Because once you pay 340 from next time onwards its FREE. why they would increase load without any money :)
No it is NOT free from there on.
Btw I just got "screwed over" by the USCIS ;). I "missed" the June 30th deadline by 5 days. Our EADs got appoved today. If only the USCIS was as effieicient with 485s as it is with monetary screw overs

The frog has lived generation by generation in that small pond. But it did not drink the pond. The pond has not dried up, nor has it become unbearable for the frog to migrate or look for fresh water sources elsewhere. U r like one of those frogs who thinx the pond is the entire world :D. What an idiot!!!
Are you telling your story to every one on this forum that you are a Frog and Idiot?
Which law firm are you representing?

Everyone show attitude towards desi. Travel London, Frankfort, Amsterdam, Paris, Zurich, Dubai, Baharain anywhere so I prefer nonstop. I can live with lazy airhosteses in Air India or Continental over seperzelous security in Europe or Middle East.
my opinion:
AI : I love my india , but will not fly AI , because I dont want to take chances with once a year vacation I get.
BA : They are prompt service folks , but I cant tolerate their attitude.
Luftansa: Again good, but cant take the attitude.
cathay/singapore/korean/Arab emirates: Nice , can bet my time and money for my travel on them
Others : I dont really care.
