I fully agree.
They may have some material education.
But Indian guys working here are third class fellows.
Arrogant, low tendencies, flase values etc.
They don't even mix with other Indians and think they are in Heaven or some thing.Don't worry if they loose their GCc.
These guys are unworthy of gettings GCs.
Best Regards
We are here talking about results of passiveness and highly critical need of activeness from members. And we have members from all countries. If you can contribute your ideas within the main theme of this thread than please do so otherwise stop this unnecessary ranting. It does not serve any purpose.

Total immigration numbers, not employment. The direct references in the report are:
Figure 3 Page CRS 9.
For the 2005 numbers, I approximated, using Appendix A on page CRS-22, which covered the top 50 countries sending immigrants and that was around 87% of the total.
Sorry - I can't currently access the report you quote your oringinal figures from at the beginning of your quote. Are these numbers of total immigration, or immigration in the highly skilled category?

Checks are being accepted at this time.
Can we mail checks to the address:
Immigration Voice
P O Box 1372
Arcadia, CA 91077-1372
now?
There was a time when we stopped accepting checks then we started to accept them again, so not sure what state we are in currently.

GC-waiting life is fully of misery and suffering [bestowed by lawyers. employers, DOL, DOS, USCIS etc.] Grassroots efforts [State chapters] is the means of GC happiness. Way to GC happiness is to follow the Eight-Fold fath of
1) Right Participation - Join the State Chapters
2) Meet the Right People - Meet the Lawmakers who can fix the system
3) Set Right the media crecord - Talk to media and dissociate our cause from that of unrelated issues H1B visa increase and "undoucumented"
4) Find more Right People to join the cause - publicity & membership drive
5) Learn more about the Right Cause - Join telecons with the core (whenever scheduled)
6) Right approach - IV talking points, best practices
7) Right Info sharing - Between chapter leaders and members about best practices, and experiences
8) Rightway to get GC Nirvana through the Grassroots "Karma"

While I clearly do NOT agree with the original basis of this thread, here are the facts as I see it:
- We have an immigration backlog that affects a huge community and several people are only waking up to how serious this issue is (I will count myself in this category)
- IV has made significant contributions towards espousing our cause through the proper channels (via the press and lobbying)
- There is therefore greater interest today in an organization like IV and a desire to be part of the process including potentially financial contributions
- Hoewever, a lot of the new folks are looking for direction and a sense of belonging and action
- IV's policy of limited information dissemination (due to arguably valid reasons including the desire not to reveal any strategies to opponents of immigration) is not engendering the confidence required to welcome new members.
- An appeal for blind faith instead is just off-putting to most logical and thinking members and threads like these are nothing but an appeal for more information (stated rather poorly, I am afraid).
- In order to succeed, we clearly need to get everyone united
The reality is - IV needs a lot lot lot funds,IV needs manpower, IV needs your skills, IV needs your unity, IV does not need your criticism because if you criticize IV it won't help you.
So you and I together - united we stand - we build IV - if we do not want to take that extra step - we all suffer...............
Chandu, I chose to quote you since everything you are saying makes a lot of sense ( I also appreciate all of your posts and all the work you have done for so many years). In fact, with Obama's administration at least ready to talk about immigration, I think we have the perfect opportunity to get our point of view across through lobbying, which as you have said, will take a lot of funds. However, that said, is it really hard for the current team to undertstand that there are a lot of folks out there who want to contribute but would at least like to be informed on what is going on? (see poll thread I started: http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24858)
I completely understand that those who are working hard on our cause don't really have the time to update others, especially given everything else in life they have to deal with. However, when there are people ready to take on this task, why the hesitation and the defensiveness in sharing information? We really need to move involve more people in this effort to have any chance of succeeding. I know a lot of folks have said something to the effect "it's not our job to inspire people - if they cannot be inspired to contribute, let them go to hell". However, I do think it's the job of leadership to inspire and get more people behind them or else no one will succeed - I really wish the Core team moves in this direction.
Disclaimer: I am a recent "Donor" and have certainly not put in anywhere near the amount of effort or money that several of the committed members like you have

thank you for participating in the national phone campaign we ran for the last 2 weeks.
We got feedback on some calls that were made and it was encouraging.
We are now starting a campaign to contact our lawmakers and media offices.
please click on immigrationvoice.org - advocacy -- legislative action center (http://immigrationvoice.capwiz.com/immigrationvoice/home/)
or the icons on the top of iv page to participate in the action alerts.
This campaign is very simple.
It will not even take 5 minutes of your time.
please spread the word around so that we can flood the offices with our emails. this will help in the event we are planning for next month. See iv announcement: Advocacy days in washington dc: 7th & 8th june - page 3 - immigration voice (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=1437978)

Good that some parts of main stream media are tracking issues on EB green cards.
I don't want to raise/discourage everyone's hopes, but the post is relying on a leader, who lost count to this houses & has the track record of flip-flopping a lot about number of issues & who is hated among veterans even though he himself is a veteran.
However this gives a great opportunity to IVians, with respect to making EB issue visible to MSM (MainStream Media); Pretty soon there will be a debate between Sen Obama & Sen McCain; Similar to party debates, I guess there will be youtube videos, with polling involved. If we work towards pushing the issue towards debate (by creating & voting on these videos), then candidates & parties may start taking serious look at it and we may see light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully not an incoming train).

I think I-485 filing clause is needed. Please note that the USCIS is not staffed enough. So there is a high possibility that the priority date retrogression will continue even if all the current provisions included in the Frist bill is passed. They will retain the retrogression in order to control the number of applications. In such a scenario, it is important for us to try and introduce the I-485 clause, so that people could get their EAD while they wait for USCIS to clear the mess. My 2 cents.
if this presesnt clauses r there..i think its enuf for us to et the dates current...recapturing unused visas and increasing visa numbers

Sorry that I could not reply sooner. In this case, I went ahead and did an Info Pass appointment. The officer there went ahead and gave a 1-year temporary stamp and said he was ordering card production. This was in July and I am still waiting. My lawyer said "congrats"! No idea how to handle this going forward. What happened to your case?

I totally get where you're coming from - I was in the same place also some time back. And I absolutely support dissenting voices - every organization needs a conscience. IV is no exception. So go ahead with your questions and ignore the folks trying to shut you up.
Heres why I contribute to IV -
IMHO the biggest role IV is playing right now is educating the media, politicians, administrators etc. about the hardships we're going through. The first step towards solving a problem is to get people to acknowledge there is one. And right now there are people in the administration who don't think or even know there is a problem.
Mark Bartosik's done some great work with the media. Nixtor has also been prominent here. I'm sure there are others also involved.
Mark on Radio (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=site%3Aimmigrationvoice.org+%22mark+bartosik%22 +radio)
similarly search for nixtor, pappu etc.
As for the monetary aspect - if we're sitting here typing and other folks are using their weekends/ days off work to get somewhere to make a difference to our fight, I'd see the easiest way of pitching in with money - for printing a glossy flier, or, maybe the cost of an air ticket, or lunch or whatever.
If some part of the contributions make life easier for these folks - its absolutely worth it, isn't it?
And for folks who refer to this as "Donation"
Its not a donation - its a contribution.
Donation refers to a gift to a charitable organization whereas a ontribution is generally associated with a gift to a common fund or collection.
I hope this helps you somewhat to get over the hurdle of moving from a member to a contributor.
As for "donor" forums - think of them as a paid subscription (like shareware ;)). Its also one way of ensuring that anti-immigrant trolls don't get through. I do totally support this model.
I know this is probably asking for trouble but no movement can be credible without listening to the dissenting voices. So here is my gripe ... You cannot open a single thread or forum without being asked for contributions these days. People are told that if they dont contribute, they are not "supporting the cause".
But the stark reality is this... If you look at the IV website to see what action/progress has been made in "the cause"....there is some vague statement about Patton Boggs and how we have this lobbyist who is educating congressmen...Who exactly? How? When? Oh those details cannot be given.
There is a link about IV in the news...the last time IV was in the news was in Sept 2007 ...19 MONTHS AGO...
Then there is a link about IV and FBI namechecks...The last update is some thread in Feb 08 and this brilliant statement from 2007 ..."IV has met officials from agencies and has raised this issue in the recent past. We have been informed that there is an effort being undertaken to significantly reduce name check backlogs in the next 6 months." SERIOUSLY?? You really expect that you can convince people to contribute based on this flimsy evidence of doing "something" that you really cant tell us ??
For those asking for money, THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SINGLE UPDATE ON ANY PROGRESS SPECIFICALLY ACHIEVED BY IV IN THE LAST YEAR AND HALF !!!
How can you justify this? Actually, you dont have to....There are many like me who will answer questions of panicked people about how to navigate the complex immigration system but until IV can provide some concrete proof of what specifically it is doing, how exactly it is spending the money and what roadmap of progress it hopes to achieve and whether it is on its way to achieving it....the money wells will continue to be dry.
And this new caste system of the DONOR forum which basically says screw you to everyone who has spent time, money or effort on IV and completely goes against the "Change for fairness and Justice" mumbo jumbo is a step in the right direction, IV needs to give way to an actual movement that actually does something and this DONOR forum concept will certainly go a long way in the marginalization of this site and community.

is it mean Canadian door's are closed for people who employed in IT field and do non-managerial job?
Is there any other alternative option to apply Canadian PR after exclusion of occupation category from federal and province Skilled worker category?
Canada has a point system. You earn points for (i) qualification in area of demand - this changes constantly, (ii) family in Canada, if any, including cousins etc (iii) age, (iv) knowledge of English/French, (v) a job offer in area of demand, (vi) money for initial support during job search, (vii) knowledge of culture, (viii) interview, etc etc. If you get passing marks (60%?) you are in.
Others categories are marriage, investor (with a guarantee of employing certain minimum number of Canadians other than your own family), refugee etc.
There is no country based quota. Once you become citizen (after 3 yrs), your Nationality is considered Canadian. Country of birth is never mentioned or asked for any document other than passport (even there it is optional). Govt benefit plans do not distinguish between a PR and a citizen.
