There are basically two big camps in the immigration reform debate and each has subsidiary interests that diverge in important respects from the bigger grou[. There is the pro-immigration camp which generally favors immigration reform proposals introduced over the last few years. Within the pro-immigration camp, there is the labor left which is in favor of legalization but balks at provisions that would provide temporary or permanent visas to workers that might come in the future. In the anti-immigration camp, there is the major group which opposes any form of legalization and is of mixed thinking on future worker provisions....

Hello, I apologyze for not giving my name away first of all, secondly I need to know what my options are if my father and mother who are permanent residents in the USA can file an I-130 for me? They obtained their legal status thru the department of labor but at the time they were approved I was already 21 years of age (the whole process started in 2000and lasted for 5 years or so); one lawyer told me that I cannot do anything since I was over 21 but I just have been in a different lawyer who told me that yes I can adjust my status thank to a grandfather law that can help me to achieve my goal in working legally in this country. I am an unmarried daughter and 27 years of age at this time.
I just don't want to spend those $5,500 can this lawyer is asking me for his services, I appreciate very much your replies and my family will too

I am EB3 - Dec 2004 filer and there is no hope for few years that my date get current. i have filed another GC through my sister in May 2006 and that F4 category is moving quicker and expecting my priority date will be current in 5 years through my sister.
i have bought 2 Family house in Jersey City. now for my kids education we thought to move to India for 4 to 5 years until we get call for GC though my sister.
we are going to rent house - it's multi family near NYC. my landloard is willing to take care of it in our absence.
my Q is can we get B1 (Visitor visa) for 10 years , if we show that we have property in US and we may need to visit just to take check it ??
should we inform immigration officer about GC filed though my sister to assure that we will not stay in US longer, to get B1 visa?
can we get visitor visa before leaving USA? i mean converting from H1 to B1 for multi year?
i would appreciate some suggestions.

Hi All,
Please help me with this. i came to USA on L1B visa in 2005 with 1 year petition and got extension for 2 more years i.e till feb 2008 but went to india for good in June 2007.
Again we came back with new L1B petition in Oct 2007 and got 3 years visa i.e, till Oct 2010.
1) Now if company apply for extension on L1B how many years ext i'll get?
2) Now if Company B wants to file new H1B for me, how many years of visa i'll get.
i was never on H1 before this is my first time H1B.
Please help me with this as soon as possible.

The primary can keep working on H1. If you don't plan on changing your job, be on H1. If there is any issue with your application, then you are still on H1. If you are on EAD and your application is denied, then your EAD also becomes invalid.

A piece of good news on immigration was largely overshadowed by the Arizona mess. Republican Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana and Democrat Dick Durbin sent a letter to DHS Secretary Napolitano urging her to stop the deportations of students who might be eligible for relief if the DREAM Act or comprehensive immigration reform should pass. DREAM would allow some who entered the US as children to obtain permanent residency if they attend college or join the military. No word yet on how Napolitano reacted.

You need to get a copy of 140, so you may have to tell your employer about your AC21 (actually no need if you have a copy of approved 140). Nothing to get scared of. But its good to leave in good terms.
Once you start using EAD your H1 will get cancelled anyway. So it wont make any difference if your old employer cancels it.
