I filed for my wife's AP on Oct 12th and TSC and received the AP on Nov 1. Applied for UK transit visa on Nov 8 and received that on Nov 14th.

Not sure about which bank would be good but whichever bank you choose make sure that they give you a statement of how much interest you paid over the year. Most people don't realize that you can deduct interest paid for a home loan in India is tax deductible in the US. Just FYI.

STILL WAITING FOR GREEN.
You should be able to switch from EB3 to EB2.
Put pressure on employer or get some other company (reputed one) to take a AC21 and start processing EB2.

e.g. "Eb2 people are highly qualified compared to EB3" - Nowhere in US immigration-based legislation do we find such support for such a categorical assertion.
EB categories are EMPLOYMENT BASED - simply put, the requirements of the job determine EB category. Not whether one is smarter than the other.
There is another 10+ page thread on this very topic where this issue has been examined threadbare. Based on current law there is nothing illegal in this porting practice. Also, there is no place for 'ethical' categorization in the letter of the law.
Porting is a legally supported practice which is tied to LABOR and JOB requirements, not to one's esteemed sense of self worth.
There are numerous BUSINESS reasons why EB3 to EB2 porting is allowed. Why not focus on other forms of irrational immigration practice like the 7% quotas which amount to discrimination based on national origin?

The important thing is, not all BEC cases are alive today. Most people moved on to PERM. On the flip side, some newbies took advantage of substituted Labor, but I am guessing the count is not very high.
So if we have 150K BEC + 144K PERM, then in reality, the total 485 primary applicants will be < (150K + 144K).
More like 200K, I would think. Including spouses and foreign born kids, the number would be 400K (as not all primaries are married).
Add some more applicants from eb1, etc., who do not require Labors and the number should not exceed half a million in total including dependants. But again, we are speculating. In reality, the total may be less than half a million or more.
Assuming DOS and USCIS are efficient and use up all 140K visas each year, all of us should have GCs in < 4 years. The per country quota may cause some trouble, which may require adjusting the timeframe a little bit, but not much.

1) They want to minimize wastage by making more visas available for CP.
2) There was some heartburn among EB2 China applicants when their PD was set to April 2004. Since there are a lot more EB2 India applicants with PD's earlier than that, they felt that most of the EB2-ROW spillover would go to India. Moving the dates forward to 2006 would ensure that EB2 China gets a decent share of the spillover.
Although this is unfair to folks with earlier PD's and is sure to cause a lot of heartburn, I would rather see the visas get used than get wasted again. Looks like the USCIS is setting a pattern of giving a year end bonanza to a few fortunate folks. Let the annual sweepstakes begin! Good luck everyone!!

hi i have come to the u.s. on a f2 visa and currently my spouse is doing her OPT.i applied for a driving licence in georgia and i was issued a learners permit based on my I94,visa and letter from social security office denying me a ssn.
i went to the same centre(decatur) for a road test and now they say that we cannot give you a licence because your visa says dependent for a student of wisconsin university,so you should go to wisconsin and get your licence.i went to another dmv centre and after verifying my docs. they let me take the road test and i cleared the test and they asked me to go to the counter to pay money , at that time the person in the counter again asked me for passpoert and i94 and he saw that university of wisconsin stuff on my visa and he said he will not issue a licence and i spoke to the supervisor and he says get a letter from INS ,i showed him my spouse opt card and showed him the words in the card which reads"eligible to work in u.s. upto ----").now he says that is your spouse opt card ,what autorisation do you have to stay in GA ?
has any one come across such a problem?is so kindly advice
