16th congressional district - volunteers needed
Calling for Nor Cal volunteers in the 16th congressional district.

We were given advice to meet with Hon. Zoe Lofgren the congresswoman for this district. As we as being an immigration attorney, she is Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law.
We need to visit her!

Hi All,
My employer is going put one newspapaer ad for two employee's. He is doing this to save moeny. Is this ok to put one ad for two employee's? Will there be any probelm in PERM.

My sister, as part of submitting documents for her fiance visa application, recently got a birth certificate. However, it doesn't have her name on it. Odd as it sounds, the municipality says that this is common practice. It just has the name of the parents.

Hi,
I have my L1 Visa from X Company and I traveled to US for 2 months.
I also have my H1B Visa from Y Company stamped in my passport.
I am planning to enter US with my L1 Visa and then change my status to H1B after a month.
1) If I get a job, can I change my status from L1 to H1 within a month? Is there any minimum period to work on L1 for change of status?
2) Do I need the consent of my X Company for having the change of status to H1B done?
3) What documents are required for the change of status? I will not have my pay stubs during my stay on L1 status, as I will be paid just the per diam.
4) If I enter US with my H1B Visa and if I am deported to my Home country (because I just have 7 months) validity of my H1B (or) due to employer-employee relationship issue), can I still use my L1 Visa of my X Company to revisit US?
Please advise.

You must submit the 485 through a lawyer if your priority is current, check the visa bulletin. You can always file when 140 is approved and you are still employed with same employer. You can also file EAD & AP for work permit and international travel. Get a lawyer asap.

I went on March 11. I went in for 10 am appointment and was out at 10.10 am. Fulltime, first time H1B stamping. Simple questions - where did I do my education, what do I do in my current job, then the officer asked for W-2s from last two years and that was it.

USCIS has announced that it is working on a rule to create an electronic registration system for H-1B employers subject to the annual cap. Employers would first register an application and be allocated an H-1B cap number and then would file the case. The idea is that employers would need to register to claim an H-1B cap number first and then if they are selected, they then would prepare and file the case.
